Dema Diriseskan (Zeit der Brombeeren)
When Servan returns to his hometown after graduating from university, he witnesses the burning of his village and a series of other violent acts, which eventually lead him to join the Kurdish resistance. During clashes with Turkish soldiers tasked with destroying and evacuating Kurdish villages in the region, Servan is severely injured. To prevent slowing down his comrades and to allow them to escape, Servan insists on being left in a pit in the ground.
*DEMA DİRİREŞKAN* is an adaptation of the novel *Bogürtlen Zamani*, an autobiographical account by Murat Türk, who shared his experiences as a Kurdish guerrilla fighter before being imprisoned. The novel garnered significant interest in both Turkey and Europe. In the region, tens of thousands have lost their lives, thousands of villages have been destroyed, and millions have been forced to migrate during the more than 40 years of conflict in Kurdistan. The story behind *BLACKBERRY SEASON* is crucial because it captures the realities of that time from the outset, depicting events and circumstances in a concise and unflinching manner. The author, Murat Türk, has been imprisoned for 30 years.
