In the Philippine province of Palawan, environmental activists are taking action against overexploitation in the rainforest, which is endangering the natural balance of the protected region. In doing so, they risk their own lives and are repeatedly threatened, attacked and murdered - especially under the government of Rodrigo Duterte, who supports rainforest deforestation and incites against their opponents. The documentary takes part in the everyday struggle of the activists up close and shows their desperation as well as their hope of being able to protect their homeland. What is particularly startling are the insights into the extent of corruption and contempt for humanity that became state practice under Duterte.
