Deckname Holec

Prague in the spring of 1968: Warsaw Pact tanks roll into the city, with the idealistic filmmaker Honza in the middle of the turmoil. Some time ago, he and his flame Eva met the charming and intelligent ORF director Helmut Zilk at an event - Eva even better than him. Through him, they try to smuggle recordings critical of the system out of the country in the hope of drawing the world's attention to the injustice. The secret service, meanwhile, also has its eye on Zilk ... The premise is hard to believe and yet it is proven, although it is relegated to the background in favour of cheerful, bucolic debauchery. Instead, the rascally excess that Novotny masters like few others reigns with natural consistency. (Florian Widegger)
