The *First Dates* short film series serves as an archive of male, homo-/bisexual desire, adhering to three principles:
1. Participants must be willing to present themselves on camera.
2. Showing their face must not be an issue, unless masks are part of a sexual practice.
3. The director’s position remains firmly behind the camera at all times.

Additionally, Soldat’s found-footage films document something else entirely: the multifaceted depictions of death scenes in various films and a TV series. (Dietmar Schwärzler)
