In his Berlinale Jury Prize-winning film THE BLUE TRAIL, Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro (“Neon Bull”) tells the poetic and visually powerful story of 77-year-old Tereza (brilliantly played by Denise Weinberg), who lives in an industrial town in the Amazon region. One day, she receives official instructions from the government to move to a retirement community in a remote area. Here, the elderly are supposed to “enjoy” their final years while the younger generation can focus entirely on productivity and economic growth. Tereza refuses to accept this fate imposed on her. She sets off on a journey through the Amazon region and its tributaries to fulfill one last wish before her freedom is taken away. The decision to embark on this journey will take Tereza's life in a completely different direction.
