Das Recht aufs Dasein / Der geheimnisvolle Club
Vienna-born Joseph Delmont was one of the most famous filmmakers in Berlin in the 1910s. He tells the story of an outsider and a fateful mistake: Joseph Dermott, recently released from prison, helps a woman who has been in an accident – but is mistaken for her attacker. Seriously injured while fleeing and arrested again, he is only exonerated when she regains her memory. Delmont relies on daring suspense, which culminates in a breathtaking train sequence. Meanwhile, Gerhard Bernin searches for the truth behind his brother's suicide in DER GEHEIMNISVOLLE KLUB (The Mysterious Club) and comes across the ‘Club of the Weary of Life’ in Rotterdam, where the ace of spades decides between life and death. When he himself becomes a member of the club and draws the fateful ace, only the sharp mind of his girlfriend Ilse can save him.
