Dark Star
The crew of the spaceship Dark Star has been travelling in space for what feels like an eternity to fulfil a dubious mission: to blow up unstable planets that could endanger human colonies in the distant future - possibly. Space is vast, the distances are long and the crew is running out of time. How to deal with this? You can watch the stars, listen to country music, feed the on-board alien, talk to the intelligent bombs and, if necessary, blow up planets that aren't that unstable. But time in space has not only left its mark on the crew, but also on Dark Star.
The question ‘Is this (film) art or can it go away?’ has often been asked about DARK STAR. The correct answer is: it is art! John Carpenter's low-budget production is now considered a cult film. Before the cinema film, science fiction expert and media artist Didi Neidhart, who teaches on the MultiMediaArt course at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, will give a short introduction.
