Crossing
The new film by Levan Akin (‘When We Danced’) wowed the audience and the jury alike at the Berlinale and was honoured with the Teddy Jury Award.
Lia, a retired teacher, has set herself the task of finding out what happened to her niece Tekla, who disappeared a long time ago.
She learns from Achi, a neighbour, that Tekla may have left her native Georgia and is living in Turkey. Together they set off in search of her. Istanbul welcomes them as a beautiful city full of connections and opportunities. Nevertheless, the search for someone who doesn't want to be found is harder than they thought. At some point they meet Evrim, a lawyer who fights for trans rights. As the two of them make their way through Istanbul's alleyways and backstreets with her help, Tekla suddenly feels closer than ever before.
