Carnival time is party time, as shop assistant Franzi knows only too well. She has already danced the night away eight times, whereas her colleague Hanni hasn't danced once. But now that's about to change, because her secret admirer, the grumpy and lovable clerk Kümmelmann, wants to take her to a big ball - the prelude to an amusing comedy of mistaken identity with music, in which Hans Moser in particular lives up to his image as a grumpy bawd against his will, while stage star Leo Slezak - who in real life is not very happy about working with Moser - sings a simple truth from his soul while drunk on a rubbish bin: "A glass of champagne is often enough for you to suddenly discover a heart.
