Children of Men
Part of the SADFEST special series.
Miriam: As the sound of the playgrounds faded, despair set in. It's very strange what happens in a world without children's voices.
In the year 2027, humanity has become infertile. Not a single child has been born in 18 years, and with the absence of life, hope also fades. The world is in decay: refugee camps, environmental disasters, terror. Only Great Britain somehow manages to hold itself together with brutal isolation as a police state with a fragile foundation.
Theo Faron (Clive Owen), a cynical ex-activist, reluctantly becomes the protector of the unimaginable: a young pregnant woman named Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey). Her existence is both a miracle and a moving target for all sides. Together they flee through ruins, violence, and mistrust in the hope that somewhere there is still room for a future.
