CHILDREN IN THE FIRE
Director Afineevsky, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for his documentary Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom, now turns his focus to children from across Ukraine who have suffered horrific injuries as a result of Russia’s invasion in February 2022. Afineevsky demonstrates a keen sensitivity to what he calls “the next generation of Ukrainians… You see the younger generation who have gone through hell, who have experienced so much and yet still carry hope. They are strong, they are resilient… They are fighters.”
