While cleaning out the basement, Tobi and Marina discover an old video recording: eight-year-old Tobi is hosting a self-invented show about the Earth beneath our feet — and posing his very first “Checker question”: Who leaves the most powerful traces in the soil?
But Tobi has forgotten the answer. He sets off in search of clues, embarking on his biggest adventure yet. It leads him into the animal and plant world of Madagascar, into the permafrost regions of Svalbard, and to the traces of the ancient Maya in Mexico. Only when he realizes what connects all soils — and what that has to do with us — can he answer his greatest challenger: himself.
