Charlie Chaplin: Der Zirkus
Charlie Chaplin’s classic The Circus – performed live with music by Franziska Hatz, Richie Winkler, and Tino Klissenbauer.
When Charlie the Tramp flees from a policeman, both accidentally stumble into a circus ring. The audience bursts into applause at the unintentional performance, and Charlie is promptly hired as a clown. At the circus, he meets the stepdaughter of the ringmaster. But will the young acrobat return Charlie’s love?
At the 1929 Academy Awards, Chaplin was nominated for Best Actor for The Circus. However, the Academy instead chose to honor him with a special award for “his versatility and genius in writing, acting, directing, and producing The Circus.”
