Cage/Cunningham

John Cage and Merce Cunningham were “partners in crime” on every level, and with their unique way of thinking about dance and music, they profoundly shaped both art forms. This documentary traces the history of their collaboration through footage from around the world and interviews with the likes of Robert Rauschenberg, Rudolf Nureyev, David Tudor, Jasper Johns, and Virgil Thomson. With Summerspace, a work by Cunningham will be performed for the first time at the Vienna State Opera by the Vienna State Ballet.
