Bottle Rocket
Anthony, just released from a mental hospital, gets involved in a curious ‘career plan’ as a criminal with his eccentric friend Dignan. Together with quiet Bob, they embark on an amateurish journey through Texas in search of adventure, belonging and the big score. But between amateurish robberies and emotional aberrations, the grand plan quickly crumbles...
BOTTLE ROCKET is Wes Anderson's feature film debut and also the start of his collaboration with Owen and Luke Wilson, who played their first major roles here. The film thrives on its laconic humour, the warm-hearted portrayal of young dreamers and the charming mixture of slacker comedy and quiet coming-of-age story. Anderson's flair for stylised visual composition and his very own emotional tonality is already evident here, and was soon to make him a defining director of American indie cinema.
