The film BOLERO tells the story of the creation of the ballet and orchestral piece of the same name and takes a look at the life and work of its creator: the French composer Maurice Ravel. He would have celebrated his 150th birthday on 7 March 2025.

Paris 1928: The composer Maurice Ravel is commissioned by the eccentric dancer Ida Rubinstein to compose the music for her next ballet. She wanted something sensual and beguiling. Ravel initially felt unable to put anything down on paper. He seeks inspiration in his everyday life and delves deep into his innermost being, coming to terms with the failures of his early years, the rupture caused by the First World War and his impossible love for his muse Misia Sert. A seemingly random idea becomes the basis for his greatest success, a fascinating and unique work that will help the composer achieve world fame: the Bolero.
