Inspired by humanitarian reform ideas, State Councillor Pralinski ventures into an obscure neighbourhood, where he ends up at a subordinate's wedding. When the party degenerates into a drinking binge, he joins in and wakes up the next morning from a bad dream ... This satirical grotesque - the first film that was not allowed to be released in the Brezhnev era - confronts the masquerade of a subaltern bourgeois party with grandiose flights of fancy, exposing the vain self-portrayal of the apparatchiks.
