BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions
This complex film essay began five years ago at the Venice Biennale as a video installation that unfolded the life experiences of Black people—past, present, and future—into a kaleidoscope of diverse image formats, seen from the perspective of a Black news channel. Khalil Joseph, known as a music video director for Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, has now expanded the project into a feature film and added Afrofuturist narrative scenes. Like samples in hip-hop, political speeches and other archival footage collide with social media clips and memes—across 21 tracks. A cinematic remix album set to driving techno. (Viennale)
