Beverly Hills Cop

Axel Foley is a police officer in Detroit and is notorious among his superiors for his cheeky manner and - shall we say - unconventional methods. When his friend Mikey is murdered by two professional killers, Axel decides to investigate on his own. He ends up in the Golden State, where he tangles with a dodgy art dealer - and with his colleagues, who are supposed to make sure Axel doesn't do anything stupid ... What was initially conceived as an action spectacle was later tailored entirely to its lead actor Eddie Murphy: instead of leaden arguments, he relies on a loose mouth and fires off one snappy line after another. Admittedly: The humour hasn't always aged well - but all in all it's a sunny, good-humoured classic.
