Ferdinand Adler (1903-1952) was a violinist from Vienna who fled to Shanghai to escape the Nazis. There, Mingliang Sheng (1932-2023), who had narrowly escaped the Japanese invaders as a child, became his pupil. Today, the story of the two unfolds through their adult children, Christina and Fang, who meet for the first time. Paul Rosdy's sensitive film makes the historical and personal lines visible - also with the use of exciting archive material - and illuminates the Jewish exile from a Chinese perspective.
