Berlin Alexanderplatz

Francis (Welket Bungué) is on an illegal crossing from Africa to Europe when his ship is caught in a storm. The desperate Francis prays for rescue and vows that from now on he will be good and decent if he can only make it safely to the coast. His wish is apparently granted and he actually makes it to land, where he ultimately ends up in Germany. Francis tries to keep his vow, but life as a refugee doesn't make it easy for him: Eventually, Francis gets involved with the German drug dealer Reinhold (Albrecht Schuch), who wants to use him for his business. Francis resists the temptation for a long time, but finally gives in. When one day he meets Mieze (Jella Haase) and falls in love with her, his life seems to change for the better. But Reinhold won't leave him alone...
