Ben-Hur
Palestine at the time of the Roman occupation: the young Ben-Hur witnesses a turbulent era. His childhood friend Messala is a legion commander with the Romans; not far away lives a man named Jesus of Nazareth. An accident makes Ben-Hur a lifelong prisoner of the galleys, but when he saves the life of a Roman naval commander, he is freed. He seeks revenge on Messala, who had condemned him and his family. A chariot race in the arena of Jerusalem is to decide their quarrel. Messala suffers a fatal accident.
Shortly afterwards, Christ is crucified on Golgotha. When his mother and sister are miraculously healed, Ben-Hur decides to dedicate his life to the Christian religion.
