Beau is Afraid
Beau is not well - his paranoia makes his life difficult and the medication his therapist prescribes him is no solution either. When Beau sets off to visit his mother, an epic odyssey begins in which he is confronted with his past, present and future. In the end, Beau has to realise that he has to overcome his darkest abysses in order to fulfil his dreams.
With BEAU IS AFRAID, the exceptional visionary director Ari Aster realises a project of his heart that he has been continuously developing since his time as a film student. The result is a three-hour (psycho)nightmare comedy - impressive, absurd, nerve-racking, which takes you away physically and mentally.
Opinions on BEAU IS AFRAID will differ greatly and it is quite justified to enter the cinema with some fear.
