Avant-Drag!

In this foray through Athens, we get to know nine Athenian drag performers. In their deeply political performances, they deconstruct gender, nationalism, belonging and identity against a backdrop of police brutality, transphobia and racism. The tone alternates between wry humour and quiet thoughtfulness; the boundaries between art, activism and life become blurred. At one point, the unifying narrative describes the artistic practice: Drag opens the door to the basement, takes things out of the darkness, transforms them into clothes and wigs and puts them on.
