Automotive
A snapshot of an automotive industry where economic and societal crises converge: Sedanur and Eva do not work directly for Audi, but for service providers contracted by Audi.
Sedanur is employed as a temporary worker in logistics, while Eva works as a headhunter recruiting specialists to further automate the same logistics sector.
Sedanur eventually loses her job due to the fallout from the emissions scandal.
“Automotive” explores the current status of work as part of life plans and self-understanding by presenting a sharply drawn double portrait of the two women, interspersed with historical archival footage, glimpses of fully automated smart factories, and a subplot about the enduring efforts of union activism.
While the headhunter is ready to leave her profession behind and escape to the Caribbean, for the temporary worker, a permanent contract with the option of earning a forklift license already belongs to the realm of distant dreams.
