art+film+vienna: Körper, Psyche, Rollen

FromDiverse

Year2025

Duration0min.

If normativity is more than just statistical average — if it is a construct — shouldn’t deviation be the default mode?
The films in this screening block explore the interdependence of body, psyche, and assigned roles in diverse and layered ways.

Full Out traces the lingering echoes of the 19th-century performances of so-called “hysterical” women at the Salpêtrière hospital. This Werewolf Complex fuses intimate descriptions of aura — seizures in certain areas of the brain that cause sensory, physical, and emotional disruptions — with a fantastical visual landscape. The Act of Not Seeing with One’s Own Eyes and This Is How I Felt confront us with the condition of the body and the medical means used to analyze it. In Different/Same/Both/Neither, the body engages directly with the film (material) itself.
You Are the Truck and I Am the Deer, Nomadism, temporal connection and new feminine longings., and NIGHTS AND DAYS present three feminist positions from three very different perspectives.
