In June 2017, New York-based artists and programmers Matt Hall and John Watkinson created 10,000 unique digital avatars in a basement in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn. The avatars were randomly generated using an algorithm and distributed for free as NFTs on the blockchain. At the same time in L.A., Robness, a young, uncompromising artist, discovered Bitcoin and turned almost entirely to crypto art, seeing this new field as a tremendous opportunity for artistic freedom.
