ARM WIE EINE KIRCHENMAUS (Poor as a Church Mouse) is one of Paul Morgan's first film works after his return from the USA. He appeared alongside Fritz Grünbaum in the prologue and played the bank clerk Quapil. Actress Grete Mosheim considered her role as stenographer Susi Sachs to be the best she had played in a sound film to date, as it was the most human and true to life. Film-Kurier wished her ‘truckloads of laurel wreaths’ and saw Morgan as a ‘funny factotum’. A few years later, Hans Thimig recalled that Morgan had been one of the reasons for his involvement in the film and always had fond memories of their collaboration on ARM WIE EINE KIRCHENMAUS. The film shines in new splendour in the restored version by the Düsseldorf Film Museum – premiere!
