Ariel

Ariel is dedicated to the memory of the Finnish reality. A mine is blown up. Taisto Kasurinen leaves Lapland when the mine where he and his father work is closed. His father shoots himself. Taisto gets into an American road cruiser and drives thousands of miles with the top down to Helsinki. There he loses his money, finds a woman, goes to jail, and breaks out again.

Ariel moves somewhere between poetic realism and black comedy. A film as dark and beautiful as a September evening.
