Aretha Franklin: Amazing Grace

In January 1972, Aretha Franklin gave a two-night gospel concert together with the Southern California Community Choir and Reverend James Cleveland at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in the Watts neighbourhood of Los Angeles. Her live album Amazing Grace, which is still the best-selling gospel album in the world today, was recorded at the concert. Aretha Franklin sang songs such as How I Got Over, Precious Memories and an eleven-minute interpretation of the hymn Amazing Grace. Gospel music was an important lifelong inspiration for the singer.
