Architecton
A thoroughly poetic documentary of hypnotic power about the quest for a new understanding of architecture. Through stunning imagery, accompanied by the striking soundtrack of Evgueni Galperine, we follow the life cycle of stones, beginning in nature and ending in a landfill. These powerful film visuals are eventually articulated in concrete words by the Italian architect Michele De Lucchi. The term “Architecton” describes a holistic system, which in Kossakovsky’s work becomes a method of critique.
“Between the lines, the original intention behind Architecton becomes clear: a critique of the zeitgeist. What remains is the feeling of having experienced something entirely new. Beneath the images lies a clear stance: against modern building construction – though it’s unclear exactly where it leads, the search is for the right kind of progressivity.”
