In the near future, humanity is on the brink of collapse: a mysterious disease transforms humans into creatures that only vaguely resemble animals. The mutants quickly find themselves socially marginalised. On the run from the angry mob, a group of mutants hide in the forest. Among them is the young Émile's mother. However, he doesn't want to give her up and sets off with his father François in search of her. François doesn't really want to realise that she is no longer the same. And then Émile gets caught too.
