IN THE MOMENT OF FEAR (German release title) is postmodern film-within-a-film cinema, a Freudian horror scenario, and a sweeping plea for the power of cinema. When the slogan "The eyes of the city are mine" adorned the film's posters at the time, it was not only - but certainly also - meant literally.

Patty (Talia Paul) is at the cinema with her friend Linda (Clara Pastor). They are watching a horror film about a pretty eye-catching mother-son relationship that escalates in its perversion until the mother (marvelous: Zelda Rubinstein) sends her son (Michael Lerner) to bring her all the eyes of the city. Naturally, these first have to be removed from people's heads. Meanwhile, Patty is feeling increasingly uncomfortable in the cinema, especially since she has a creepy man in her sights in front of her...
