An Unfinished Film

Director Xiaorui persuades cast and crew members to resume filming on a movie he was unable to complete 10 years earlier. In January 2020, the final filming is underway when news suddenly circulates about an unknown illness. A hairdresser from Wuhan is sent home and the team follows the news on their cell phones. Director Xiaorui has to decide quickly whether to continue filming. Some of the cast manage to leave the hotel before it is sealed off by security and everyone who remained on set is banished to their hotel rooms. All communication is limited to phone screens. Wuhan is in lockdown. The crew communicates via video calls. Leading actor Jiang Cheng is in quarantine and tries to support his wife over the phone, who is in lockdown with their four-week-old baby in their apartment in Beijing. The movie is as laconic and precise as the description is sober. A must-see!
