All You Need Is Kill
Picturesque, colorful sci-fi animation meets bloody timeloop splatter. That may sound a bit contradictory at first, but as the loop repeats itself, it flows smoothly into a coherent plot. The starting point is the sudden appearance of a gigantic, but above all extraterrestrial plant in a futuristic Japan, which emits electromagnetic waves and plunges its surroundings into chaos. Rita is part of a special unit that has been tasked with ensuring national security since this event. But when, a year later, the mysterious plant turns out to be a breeding ground for aggressive monsters that are rapidly wiping out all human life, the situation spirals completely out of control. Rita tries desperately to fight this murderous species – in vain. She fails again and again until she wakes up in her bed and realizes that the same day is repeating itself endlessly. The more often she experiences the massacre, the more she reaches her physical and psychological limits. Hope only springs when Rita meets Keiji – the only one who, like her, knows that they are trapped in a time loop. But he too seems uncertain and overwhelmed, and despite their alliance, saving humanity seems almost impossible.
