Aferim!

Two horsemen somewhere in Eastern Europe in 1835: the gendarme Constandin and his son are looking for a slave. Carfin is rumoured to have run away and had an affair with his master's wife. Costandin faces every situation with cheerful wisdom, while his son takes a thoughtful look at the world. On their journey, they meet people from different countries and religions: Turks and Russians, Christians and Jews, Romanians and Hungarians. What unites them all are the prejudices they harbour against each other. But when Carfin is found, the journey is not yet over.
