Acht Berge
A story of setting out and returning - and of what makes a fulfilled life. The film adaptation of the award-winning bestseller by Paolo Cognetti. Directed by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix von Groeningen (Oscar-nominated for "The Broken Circle").
EIGHT MOUNTAINS is the story of a friendship. It tells of two boys who become men: Pietro the city boy, Bruno the last child of a forgotten mountain village. As the years go by, their paths separate. Bruno remains faithful to his familiar homeland of high peaks, shady valleys and rushing torrents, while Pietro is drawn out into the wide world. Nevertheless, he always returns to the mountains, to this existence of silence, endurance and moderation.
He wrestles with Bruno over the question of which path is the right one. City or country? To go or to stay? What really counts in life? The encounters between the two introduce them to love and loss, remind them of their origins, and allow their destinies to unfold. And they discover what it means to be true friends for life.
