Aalto

The Finnish architect Alvar Aalto is considered one of the most important figures of modernism worldwide. Less known, however, is the immense significance of the two women by his side in shaping his groundbreaking work. It was within the intense professional and personal partnerships with his two wives—the architect Aino Aalto, and after her tragic death, the architect Elissa Aalto—that the many spaces and objects were created which are still regarded today as design and architectural icons.
