A Plan for Paradise

After winning the competition, the Finnish architectural firm Helin & Co sets out to plan a city for 600,000 inhabitants in a nearly untouched valley outside Kathmandu. What follows is the clash of different cultures – between an organized, Western mindset and the traditional life in small structures in Nepal. In sometimes hilariously revealing ways, the film exposes the deeply rooted differences between the two worlds and depicts the persistent efforts of the Finnish architects to bring order to the apparent chaos of a society they completely misunderstand.
