A History of Love and War
Life has been kind to Pepe Sánches-Campo. The rotund, red-haired scion of a good family is planning a mega shopping centre and will marry the love of his life, the classy, equally spoilt Constanza. But local guerrilla fighters soon oppose his plans for the undeveloped land. And the troublesome rival Teo, a poet and Constanza's cousin, tries to sabotage the marriage even before the wedding.
Whether wealth, power or land - today all goods are distributed unequally to a shameless extent. So how can this inequality be portrayed other than in its ridiculous absurdity? This is exactly what director Santiago Mohar Volkow has realised with his 4th feature film. The visually exuberant black comedy A HISTORY OF LOVE AND WAR is an unpredictable ride along Pepes' downfall and paints a biting picture of the exploitative conditions in a whimsical Mexico.
