SOPHIE LAVAUD – THE LAST SUMMIT

Sophie Lavaud is not a professional mountaineer, yet she is pursuing an ambitious goal: to climb all fourteen of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks. She has already completed thirteen — only Nanga Parbat in Pakistan remains. At the age of 55, she takes on the 8,126-meter giant in the Karakoram.

The film tells the story of this final 40-day challenge — not only as a spectacular high-altitude adventure, but also as an intimate portrait of a woman walking the narrow line between courage, ambition, and self-preservation, determined to risk everything for her dream.

Director Francois Damilano created a classic high-altitude mountaineering film about a remarkable protagonist:

“Although I myself have attempted to climb several of the world’s highest peaks, I rarely succeeded. And I have lost friends. Sophie’s success made me reflect on my own approach. She has no mountaineering background, she gave up everything else. But I was certain: this woman would go far — very far.”
