*OUT OF THE SHADOW INTO THE LIGHT* delves into the mind of one of France’s strongest all-around alpinists: Charles Dubouloz. Five rough bivouacs, temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees, mental resilience, and a high risk tolerance ultimately lead to one of the most beautiful solo ascents in the Alps in the past 20 years.
Also featured: the Trango Tower in the Karakoram, the wildest mountain range in the world. The challenging route *Eternal Flame* (22 pitches, up to grade IX-) was first climbed in 1989 by Wolfgang Güllich and Kurt Albert. The first free ascent was achieved by the Huber brothers in 2009. In *KEEP IT BURNING*, Edu Marín attempts the second free ascent with his brother and father (age 71) – and the Marín family has plenty of fun along the way.
In the short film *PUNTARE IN ALTO*, we meet parasport athlete Jacqueline Fritz. Last summer, the South Palatinate native fulfilled her dream of an alpine climbing tour in the Dolomites.
