On February 2, 2011, Italian Simone Moro, Kazakh Denis Urubko, and American Cory Richards achieved the first winter ascent of the 8034-meter Gasherbrum II in Pakistan. Over 26 years, 16 expeditions had previously attempted this without success. Cory Richards became the first American to summit an 8000-meter peak in winter. Richards filmed this brutal ordeal, which nearly cost him his life, using a small camera from his own perspective. It’s this subjective viewpoint that gives *COLD* its uniquely intense atmosphere.

Catherine Destivelle masters the art of climbing like few others. The film *AU-DELÀ DES CIMES* follows the French mountaineer through the awe-inspiring landscape around Chamonix as she climbs three remarkable routes with people close to her. Director Rémy Tezier brings the majesty of the Mont Blanc Massif to the audience in a visceral way, offering a sensitive portrait of an extraordinary woman. Tezier's film has received multiple international awards.
