13 Lakes
In 13 Lakes, thirteen lakes are shown that have been altered in various ways by humans or whose existence depends on human intervention, without which the Salton Sea or Lake Powell would not exist. James Benning: ‘It's an aesthetic study of light - how it hits water and how it moves. The shots are longer so that you have time to think about the light. And because the 13 lakes are very different, I want to film them in such a way that you can compare the light effects on the water. But I also want the image to express what is special about this lake. And that's the difficult part.’ (Christian Köberl)
