What is THE WITNESS about?
In Iran, Tarlan, a retired dance teacher, witnesses a murder committed by a prominent member of the government. When the police refuse to investigate the case, Tarlan must decide whether to give in to political pressure or risk her reputation and her life to get justice.
Director Nader Saeivar co-wrote the screenplay with Jafar Panahi, who is also responsible for the editing. The story of THE WITNESS is inspired by the Iranian movement Woman, Life, Freedom.
