What is THE PHOENICIAN SCHEME about?
A traditional family business becomes embroiled in a mysterious espionage affair. Zsa-zsa Korda (Benicio Del Toro), the charismatic head of the family, survives several plane crashes under unexplained circumstances. There are increasing indications that these are not accidents, but targeted attacks – apparently with the aim of destroying him and his life’s work.
Tensions rise within the family and mistrust spreads. His relationship with his daughter Liesl (Mia Threapleton) in particular, who lives in seclusion as a nun, is characterized by fragility. Father and daughter embark on a risky journey together, during which unresolved conflicts come to light and long-standing loyalties are put to the test.
